The bright orange pistils stand out against the forest green leaves accentuated by shades of deep purple. The purple tints occur when high concentrations of pigments called anthocyanins are stimulated by cold in the vegetative phase.
The inflorescences of Gelato have a predominantly pungent citrus odour. Notes of cream can also be detected. When crushing the flowers, this variety exudes a grassy, earthy scent.
Gelato smoke is smooth and leaves a soft, creamy sensation, which is perhaps why the name Gelato is given to this variety. The smoke has a typical pungent odour and those seeking to keep their consumption discreet should take all necessary precautions.
